Timothy J. Toohey
Tim became a lawyer after receiving a Ph. D in European History from Harvard University. He received his J.D. from Berkeley Law in 1985. He began his career at a major New York based firm and was a partner in several Los Angeles and California firms, practicing both as a litigator and in non-contentious matters. He has received recognition for his expertise as a practitioner and thought leader in the field of technology law. Tim has written Understanding Privacy and Data Protection: What You Need to Know in the Thomson/Reuters “Quick Prep” series and numerous articles, been quoted frequently in major publications, and spoken widely in the field of technology law.
Tim is admitted to all state courts in California, the United States District Courts for the Central District, Northern District and Southern District of California, and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. TJ Toohey Law is registered as a Professional Corporation with the State Bar of California. Tim is a fourth-generation Montanan and lives part of the year in his hometown of Bozeman, Montana where he focuses his practice on California and the states of the Intermountain West.
